A ride share driver was murdered in Dallas last week by a passenger that robbed and beat him to death.

On January 8, 2021, at around 11:55 a.m., Dallas police responded to a call regarding a deceased person at the 4100 block of Langdon Road. Dallas Fire and Rescue arrived and pronounced the victim, Joshua Miller, a 33-year-old white male, deceased from homicidal violence.

The Dallas Police Department’s Homicide Unit responded to the scene and determined through the course of the investigation that the victim was a ride-share driver who picked up the suspect at a nearby location.

During the ride, the suspect demanded property and assaulted the victim until he was deceased. During the course of the investigation, the suspect was identified as Joshua Scott, a 21-year-old Black male.

The suspect was located and arrested by Dallas police officers. He was subsequently transported to Lew Sterrett Jail and charged with capital murder, a capital felony. His bond will be determined by the Dallas County Magistrate.
