Man Arrested After Stealing Trailer from Boy Scouts of America

by Front Porch Rockwall

Garland Officers were investigating a suspect identified as 34-year-old Stephen Cook, who attempted to sell a stolen trailer on Offer Up in June. On August 10, just before midnight, Garland Officers observed Cook at a gas station in the 3000 Block of South Jupiter Road in a red Dodge Ram pickup but lost sight of him. Officers went by Cook’s house but did not see his truck.

Approximately two hours later, officers again drove by his residence and observed a single axle box trailer parked in front of the house on the street. It was discovered the trailer belonged to the Boys Scouts of America Troop 291 and was stolen from a church parking lot in the 3100 block of Spring Creek Parkway in Plano just after 1:00 am this morning.
Plano Police recovered video from the church showing the red Dodge Ram arriving in the parking lot without a trailer. The video shows two subjects exit the truck, hook the trailer up, and then flee from the location with the trailer attached.
While speaking with Plano Officers, Cook returned to his residence in the red Dodge truck. Garland Officers saw Cook connect the trailer to the truck and begin to drive away. After conducting a traffic stop, Cook was arrested.
Garland Officers are working with Plano Police in this investigation. Cook is currently in the Garland Jail on a charge of Theft $2500 to $30,000. No bond has been set.
