Rockwall Honors Former Mayor and Longtime City Leader

by Front Porch Rockwall

The City of Rockwall flags at all facilities have been lowered to half-staff today as a sign of respect for the recent passing of former Mayor and longtime City leader, Scott Self.

Mr. Self was elected to the Rockwall City Council in 1999 and then served as Mayor from 2000-2002. He also served as a Rockwall County Commissioner, County Treasurer, and a Volunteer Firefighter.

As an entrepreneur, Scott founded the prominent Rockwall businesses, Pro Soap and Sail with Scott. In addition, the highly accomplished sailor founded Dallas Race Week, the annual Lake Ray Hubbard regatta, nearly 40 years ago. A Rockwall resident since 1977, Mr. Self and his wife, Jan, have remained very active in City events and are longtime supporters and champions of multiple nonprofit organizations throughout the City of Rockwall.
