Rockwall Mayor Jim Pruitt announced over the weekend that he is seeking to become the Republican nominee for the congressional seat vacated by John Ratcliffe.
Pruitt said in a Facebook post, “Today, I am excited to announce that I will be seeking appointment as the replacement Republican nominee for Congressional District 4. The CD-4 Congressional District Executive Committee (CDEC), comprised of the elected GOP precinct and county chairs who reside in CD-4, will choose the nominee on August 8, 2020.”
Pruitt is the second Rockwall City Council member to throw their hat in the ring for the nomination. Rockwall City Councilman Trace Johannesen also announced his intention to compete for the spot.
