WEATHER PERMITTING, traffic on Farm-to-Market 3549 (FM 3549) between Interstate 30 (I-30) and State Highway 66 (SH 66) will shift from its existing configuration to a new alignment starting at 7:30 a.m. on April 1. This shift will occur over a few days with north and southbound FM 3549 completing first. The connections at Airport Rd., Riding Club Rd., Rolling Meadows Dr. and Riding Club Rd. will occur after the FM 3549 shift is complete.
During the shift, the following detours will be in place:
• Airport Rd. and Rolling Meadows Dr. traffic wanting to access northbound FM 3549 will have to turn south on FM 3549 to the I-30 frontage road to John King Blvd.
• Northbound FM 3549 traffic wanting to access Airport Rd. and Rolling Meadows Dr. will have to use John King Blvd. and SH 66 to southbound FM 3549.
• Riding Club Rd. traffic wanting to access southbound FM 3549 will have to turn north on FM 3549 to SH 66 then to John King Blvd.
• Southbound FM 3549 traffic wanting to access Riding Club Rd. will have to use SH 66 to Ben Payne Rd.
This shift is part of a $9.2 million project to reconstruct and widen FM 3549 from a two-lane to a four-lane divided roadway in Rockwall County. The project started in fall 2018 and is scheduled to finish in fall 2020.
