Shawn Charles Helms, Jr. of Heath, TX, passed away July 11, 2019, at the age of 21. He was born December 30, 1997, in Woodbridge, VA, to Shawn Helms and Misty Kay (Madole) Helms.
Shawn was a member of Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall and was a huge sports fan, especially the Dallas Mavs. Shawn graduated from Heath High School where he played basketball and baseball. In his senior year, he became an Assassins legend, winning the annual game. He then went on to attend Baylor University. Shawn could often be found playing and streaming video games like Fortnite and Call of Duty. He enjoyed hanging out with friends, spending time with family and giving his sisters a hard time. Shawn is survived by his parents: Shawn and Misty Helms; sisters: Brittany (Helms) Wilson and husband Reese, Noelle Helms, Triniti Helms, and Skylin Helms; brother: Joshua Helms; grandparents: John and Sherry Helms; along with a host of loving relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Dudley and Arlice Madole.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, July 19, 2019, at The Bridge at Lake Pointe Church, 701 E I-30, Rockwall, TX, 75087. Reception at the church to follow.
In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family requests donations in Shawn’s honor be made to the Helms Hope Foundation at www.helmshope.org. The Helms Hope Foundation is a non-profit organization that was recently established by the Helms family to promote melanoma cancer awareness and research.
