Tony Harris, age 71, of Rockwall, TX, passed away May 29, 2019. He was born September 3, 1947, in Dallas, TX, to Lloyd Newton Harris and Rosa Laverne (Bean) Harris. Tony was a resident of Rockwall for 17 years and attended New World United Methodist Church in Garland since 1986.

Tony served in Vietnam for the United States Army. He attended college at University of Texas at Dallas and obtained a BA degree with Criminology as a minor and Conrad Hilton Hotel/Restaurant Management at University of Houston. He volunteered for 10 years with the Dallas Police Department and served on the CPAAA Citizens on Patrol for Rockwall, Texas for 16 years.

Tony had a huge heart and gave so much to so many people. When he saw a need, he filled it. He helped so many people in so many ways. He was kind, caring, fun to be with and an all-around great guy. He had a sweet gentle soul. His family and friends will miss him terribly.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years: Cindy Harris; siblings: Jeannie Waggoner, Debbie Harris, Eric Harris and wife Debbie, Joye Vento and husband Paul; nieces and nephews: Willie McCoy, Carl McCoy, Wynter Beltran, Sara Kendall, Stephen Bates, and Peyton Harris; and his special little buddy: Vincent Vento; and sister-in-law: Celia Austin and husband Phil; He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 am Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at New World United Methodist Church, 5134 Northwest Hwy, Garland, TX 75043 with lunch immediately following. Interment will follow at 1:30pm in Grove Hill Cemetery, 3920 Samuell Blvd., Dallas, TX, 75228. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 6:00 to 8:00pm Monday, June 3, 2019, at The Gathering at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location.
