Flags in the City of Rockwall will be lowered to half-staff tomorrow in honor of Peace Officers’ Memorial Day. In accordance with the U.S. Flag Code, the United States flag is to be displayed at half-staff for the entire day on Wednesday, May 15, to honor the law enforcement officers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Tomorrow morning, flags at all City of Rockwall buildings will be lowered to half-staff as a sign of remembrance for these brave men and women.
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers’ Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. The event, known as National Police Week, has grown to a series of events which attracts thousands of survivors and law enforcement officers to our Nation’s Capital each year.
