Rockwall ISD Holds Battle of the Books Competition

by Front Porch Rockwall

Rockwall ISD recently hosted the Battle of the Books competition where Stevenson Elementary students were the champions in the third and fourth grade category, and Hartman Elementary were the champions in the fifth and sixth grade category.

Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program designed to encourage 3-6 grade students to read and have fun while competing with their peers.  Students at all 14 elementary campuses were given the opportunity to be on a team and prepare for competition at the district level by reading selected books on the grade appropriate reading list.

Elementary Library Media Specialists facilitated campus teams this school year by selecting students for each team, making available the list of 10 books for required reading and supporting students as they read the books over a given period of time.
