Theodore Vern “Pop” Jensen Obituary

Theodore Vern “Pop” Jensen, age 77 of Rockwall, TX, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2019, with family at his side. He was born November 8, 1941, in Rushville, NE, to Swen Beck and Edith (Holmes) Jensen. Ted served his country as an Airman First Class in the United States Air Force and had duty stations in Taiwan, Japan, and Carswell Air Force Base, Fort Worth, TX. He was a man of many talents who could build and fix anything for anyone. He was a welder most of his life, working for Marine Drilling Co. once his military duties were completed. After losing his beloved father-in-law, Rusty Turner, Ted took over the operations of Turner & Jensen Farm and Ranch. He was a partner in G & J Fabricating, where he worked with Lindy Galloway, Richard Jackson and David Garcia and spent many good times. He helped to build the Mathis Gun Club where he enjoyed many hours with fellow shooters, even teaching the junior shooters. Ted loved his family and spent his best times with them, especially with his grandchildren.

Ted is survived by his children: Mikel and Michele Jensen of Rockwall, TX, Mark and Nancy Jensen of Mathis, TX, JoLynn and Doug Rude of Plano, TX, Kevin and Debbie Schumacher of Naperville, IL; sister: Sharon Toof of Hay Springs, NE; grandchildren: Kamryn and Kevin Rude, and Bailey Jensen. He was the proud uncle of Alan Toof, Darla Sharp and Fred Toof, all of Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Dobie Funeral Home, 121 N. Duval Street, Mathis TX 78368. Brother Mike Herrington will officiate.
