Relda M. Nothdurft Selensky, age 76 of Rockwall, Texas, formerly of Grainfield, Kansas, passed away Monday, March 25, 2019. Relda was born May 13, 1942, in St. Francis, Kansas to George and Gleda (Kimmel) Nothdurft. She moved to Goodland, Kansas as a child and graduated from Sherman Community High School. She married Ronnie Arnold in 1961, and from their union, Vicky Lynn was born in 1966. Relda remarried in 1969 to Nick J. Selensky and they had a son, Carl J., in 1971.
Relda and Nick worked a farm together in Gove, Kansas while raising their two children. She embroidered, sewed and did needle point as hobbies. Relda enjoyed caring for people and became a Certified Nurses Aide. She worked at various Kansas long-term care facilities once the two retired from farming. Relda was most happy sharing in her adult children, grandchildren and great grand children’s lives while watching them thrive through all their endeavors – education, music, careers and parenthood. In retirement, Relda enjoyed going to auctions with her husband. She was an open, friendly person who loved to converse with people.
Relda is survived by her loving husband of 50 years: Nick J. Selensky; two children: Vicky Norton and husband Mike of Hays, Kansas and Carl J. Selensky and wife Ev of Rockwall, Texas; sister: Luella Wilson of Grandview, Missouri; grandchildren: Megan, Mandi, Teagan and Nickole; and great grandchildren: Abbi, Jocelyn and Natalie.
Funeral services will be held 10:00am, Monday, April 1, 2019, at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall location. Interment will follow in DFW National Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday morning, prior to the funeral, beginning at 9:00am.
