(Rockwall, Texas)- What a legacy. Not only is the Terry Fisher American Legion post 117 the oldest nonprofit in Rockwall, but they are celebrating 100 years as an organization.
Established in 1919, the Terry Fisher American Legion Post was named in honor of the first Rockwall resident who gave his life for our Country. Pvt. Fisher USMC was killed in action in 1918 during World War I.
In his memory Post 117 has committed itself to continuing to serve the veterans and citizens of Rockwall County. A commemorative picture and plaque of Terry Fisher can be seen at the Rockwall County Courthouse at the Military Museum located at 1111 E Yellowjacket Lane in Rockwall.
American Legion has 230 Active members in the Post, $25,000 financial impact in Rockwall County, 98.4% of every dollar received goes directly to efforts with more than $10,000 scholarships for Rockwall County students.
