Epic Recipes: Rockwall Sausage Balls

Front Porch News Rockwall dived deep into the ancient vaults under the city to find the greatest recipes in all the land. 

This week, the historically famous Rockwall Sausage Balls:

1/2 pound bulk ground pork sausage

8 oz cheddar cheese shredded

1/4 cup of milk

1 egg

1.5 cups Hungry Jack Buttermilk or extra light pancake and waffle mix

1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

2 tablespoons dry onion soup mix 




Heat oven to 375 degrees.

Grease cookie sheet

In large bowl, combine sausage, cheese, milk and egg; blend well. 

Lightly spoon pancake mix into the measuring cup; level off. 

Add pancake mix, pepper and soup mix: mix well.

Roll into 1 inch balls; place on prepared cookie sheet.

Sprinkle with paprika.

Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes or until light golden brown. 

Remove from cookie sheet immediately and serve warm. 

Yields 4 dozen appetizers.
