Time to make a real difference in our community. The Children’s Advocacy Center in Rockwall is a non-profit organization dedicated to stopping and protecting children who are sexually and physically abused. On April 26, they will be hosting the “Go Blue for Kids Gala” to raise money for this outstanding cause.
The gala will be at the Hilton Rockwall from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and tickets start at $100. The organization also takes donations year around and representatives from CAC say that donations of any amount will help children in these horrific situations.
“The multi-agency approach to investigating allegations of child abuse and to protecting children begins with the referral. Cases are referred to a children’s advocacy center by either a local law enforcement agency or Child Protective Services (CPS),” stated a CAC representative. “95% of children know their alleged perpetrator. … It is estimated that 1 in 4 girls and 1 and 6 boys will be sexually abuse by their 18th birthday.”
In order to help fight child abuse the best way possible, CAC works with numerous organizations. This multi-agency approach is what makes CAC unite the community and help as many children as possible. This process also limits the communication gaps between different child advocacy groups throughout the state of Texas.
“Investigating agencies frequently duplicate efforts and complicate the process for victims and their families, increasing the trauma associated with reporting the abuse and jeopardizing the opportunity for successful outcomes in child abuse cases,” continued the CAC representative.
