Rockwall ISD is hard at work preparing students for this year’s spring STAAR Test. Beginning April 9, for grades 4, 5 ,7 ,8 and English I, there is still time to give students an educational boost before the big day.
Luckily, if your child needs additional help or is a poor test taker, the Texas Education Agency has released practice test questions online.
“TEA releases two types of test questions for the STAAR program—sample questions and test forms,” states tea.texas.gov. “Sample test questions are small subsets of test questions released from the STAAR test banks. These test questions may have been previously administered. A test form is a set of released test questions previously administered together to Texas students which reflects the STAAR test blueprints.”
The website, tea.texas.gov, has tests in both English and in Spanish and covers all subjects administered during the exams.
“STAAR is an assessment program designed to measure the extent to which students have learned and are able to apply the knowledge and skills defined in the state-mandated curriculum standards, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS),” stated a TEA representative. “Every STAAR question is directly aligned to the TEKS currently implemented for the grade/subject or course being assessed.”
