Sara Margaret Goodwin, age 89, of Royse City, TX, passed away in the early morning of February 11, 2019, in Denison, TX, after a brief stay at the hospital. She was born October 21, 1929, in Greenville, TX, to Jessie Bryant and Sadie Elizabeth (Dalton) Felmet. She was the second of five children. She married Marvin “Bud” Goodwin on October 2, 1948, in Greenville, and had two girls who were raised in Royse City. She was a home maker while her girls were young but worked many years at Citizens State Bank. Margaret loved to shop and decorate her house for every holiday. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid sports fan and supported the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks. In her late years she enjoyed watching all sports from golf to BMX racing.
She is survived by her daughters: Susan Goodwin of Royse City and Julie Talley of Sherman, TX; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; siblings: Nadine Fryer of Manchester, TN, Peggy Herlocker and husband Bob of Bend, OR, and Jack Felmet of OR; and her 5 beloved cats. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother Tommy Felmet of Arlington, TX.
Graveside services will be held 10:00am, Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX. A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday evening at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Royse City Location from 5:00 to 7:00pm.
