Car Fire Ruled a Suicide, Rowlett PD Says

On February 6, at 8:57 a.m. the Rowlett Police Department recieved a 911 call reporting a vehicle on fire at McCleery Lane and Dalrock Road. The Rowlett Fire Department responded and found one person deceased inside the burned vehicle.

The Rowlett Fire Department and the Rowlett Arson Investigator investigated the fire and identified the person inside the burned vehicle. The Rowlett Police Department is not releasing the deceased male’s name at the time.

Rowlett Police contacted the family of the deceased male and determined that he was battling mental illness. The deceased had been participating in mental illness resources and options. During the course of the investigation, evidence was found that the deceased intended to commit suicide.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office conducted examination and no indicators of foul play have been discovered. The car fire has been classified as a suicide.
