After a brief retirement period, Steve started The Insurance Group in 2002 with partners Ron Archer, Debora Foutz, Roger New, and his son Mark Johnson. He enjoyed 14 years of operating and building TIG before his final retirement in July 2016.
Steve and his wife Terry united in love and holy matrimony in October of 2003. He enjoyed spending time at his farm riding on his tractor and 4-wheelers, tending to his livestock, and especially enjoyed going to watch Emma and Elizabeth show their livestock. He took great pride in making sure his property was well maintained. A special thank you to Amado for all of his help and care.
Survivors include his loving wife, Terry Johnson; sons, Mark Johnson, and Stephen Caffey and wife Jennifer; granddaughters Emma and Elizabeth “Papa’s Girls”; mother-in-law, Regina Porterfield; and a host of other friends and relatives in Texas, North Carolina and Oklahoma.
