Ilo D Rauscher Obituary

 

 

Ilo D Rauscher was born March 14, 1936, in Scotland, SD to Anthony and Sarah Rauscher. In the early 1950s, they moved to West Bend, WI. He attended West Bend HS and lettered in baseball, basketball and football. Upon graduation in 1954, he enlisted in the US Army where he served 2 years, primarily in Germany. In 1956, he enrolled at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater, where he majored in Accounting and played baseball. He excelled in baseball so much that after college, he was invited to tryouts with the Milwaukee Braves (now the Atlanta Braves).

He married Kathryn Ann Laun on April 8, 1972, and settled in Sheboygan, Wis. while working for Georgia-Pacific Corporation. Kathy and Ilo had 3 children (Laura, Paul, and Mark). In 1978, the Rauscher family moved to West Bend, Wis. where he began working as a CPA. In 1982, he took a brave step and moved the family to Ft Stockton, Texas where he became head accountant for George Angelos & Company. A few years later he and Roy Karr established a partnership, Karr & Rauscher. They headed up a client base in West Texas, primarily in the towns of Alpine, Marfa and Fort Stockton. He worked as a CPA until his retirement in 2011.

Shortly thereafter, he and Kathy moved to Lubbock, Texas where he enjoyed his grand kids and attending Texas Tech sporting events along with an occasional round of golf. In 2017, he and Kathy moved to Dallas, Texas to be near family. He and Kathy became residents of CC Young retirement community and instantly garnered lots of friends.

Ilo is survived by his wife Kathy of 47 years, daughter Laura (Martin) Sandate, sons Paul (Elena) Rauscher and Mark (Leslie) Rauscher as well as 4 grandchildren (Matthew, Jacob, Jack, and Emma). He is also survived by sister Jeannette (Donald) Patasius and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family.

Ilo passed March 4th, 10 days before his 83rd birthday, after succumbing to complications from Alzheimer’s, which he valiantly battled for 6 yrs. He was surrounded by his immediate family upon his peaceful passing. Services will be held on March 13th at (time pending) CST at CC Young Senior Living inside the auditorium located at 4847 W Lawther Dr, Dallas, TX 75214. He will be buried at 2:15pm CST at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
